I don’t agree with that but this is probably their best beer. golden straw thin head. Tiny bubbles rising. mild aroma of hops and sweet malt. nicely balanced with bitter dry finish. mild fruit. very easy drinker. illinismitty (1801), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

After being the punching bag in an OT-M style thread, I needed to take a break. So I grabbed this bottle. Pours medium golden with a white head. Faint malty and citrus hop aroma, with some grainyness. Grassy hop and earthy tea flavor. Not much sweetness. Some thin water notes in the bitter finish, along with some citrus. This is a nice hot weather beer for a hophead. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 6, 2006 Bright gold color, light head and some lacing. The nose is sweet and grainy, light hops and honey. The flavor is fairly balanced, nice hopping but it does have a moderate overbearing sweetness. Decent body and mouthfeel though. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jul 2, 2006 (12 oz bottle: Hollingshead Deli in Orange, CA) Sweet, grainy, and cheap-smelling, I’m not even remotely looking forward to taking a sip of this beer, but of course I have to. Cheap and grainy with a honey-like sweetness and a light bitterness, but the overall concoction is unpleasant to drink. It’s like drinking a bad golden ale. Body is light-medium with average carbonation, but the aftertaste is awful. A small, white head tops the crystal clear and golden body, fading to a ring while leaving some very patchy lacing on the glass. Certainly not one of the worst beers I’ve ever tasted, but for a craft beer, this isn’t good at all. Beers like this reflect poorly on the craft brewing industry. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 20, 2006 12oz - thanks zug4abby - Aroma is malty with a subtle citrus hop follow through. Pours transparent gold with a small steadt head from the cascading bubbles. Good lacing. Flavor is mostly malt with a little hop bitterness. A little too malty for me. Palate is thin with just a little tartness. Nothing offensive or great about this one. beerguy101 (3971), Newark, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 24, 2006 This pale ale pours a light amber color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malt, grain and some fruit. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. Malts are caramel and fruity but there is a lot of grassy and graininess to the malts. Hops are mild, slightly bitter and a touch citrusy. Taste more like a pale lager than a APA. Crisp finish a touch harsh. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is very crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. bhensonb (4376), Woodland, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 9, 2006 The bottle says Sequoia is in Gilroy - which suggests Coast Range Brewing is involved. It’s a bit thin. That suggests a contract brewing arrangement. Aroma has a yeasty hint. The bitterness is light but sufficient. However, though it lacks citrus and fruit - overall it is very drinkable. But it’s nothing to send to a friend overseas as an example of an American pale ale. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
