Poured a deeper and clear golden color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of earthiness, some grains, and floral. Tastes of caramel, citrus (oranges), and floral. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 20, 2005 The odd butterscotch, apple, and bitter herb aroma seeped from the pale amber body upon the rapid collapse of the thin white head. The taste was of candy corn, caramel, malt, and herbal hop bitterness. The finish was sticky sweet yet bitter, and all burping was fruity. This seems more akin to some golden ales that I’ve had than to an APA.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 6, 2006 Bright gold color, light head and some lacing. The nose is sweet and grainy, light hops and honey. The flavor is fairly balanced, nice hopping but it does have a moderate overbearing sweetness. Decent body and mouthfeel though. Clear dark straw pour with aroma of berry, caramel malt, hopcitrus, and a big strawberry note. The flavor was caramel malty, with a big fruity, blue and strawberry flavor. Medium palate. Rerate: Just rated a new bottle from beer on the wall, and I’m kicking the taste and overall scores down a tenth, as it was a bit more watery this time. bhensonb (4392), Woodland, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 9, 2006 The bottle says Sequoia is in Gilroy - which suggests Coast Range Brewing is involved. It’s a bit thin. That suggests a contract brewing arrangement. Aroma has a yeasty hint. The bitterness is light but sufficient. However, though it lacks citrus and fruit - overall it is very drinkable. But it’s nothing to send to a friend overseas as an example of an American pale ale. heemer77 (4312), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2006 The body was a clear dark gold with a white colored head. The aroma was grapefruit and some caramel. The taste had some bread crust along with light grapefruit. There was also a hint of tobacco. This was nice smooth and light. Hop heads probably think that this is watery. I call it balanced. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 24, 2006 This pale ale pours a light amber color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malt, grain and some fruit. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. Malts are caramel and fruity but there is a lot of grassy and graininess to the malts. Hops are mild, slightly bitter and a touch citrusy. Taste more like a pale lager than a APA. Crisp finish a touch harsh. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is very crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
