Commercial Description:
Toll Tender is a copper-colored ale with a pronounced hop aroma due to the time-honored tradition of dry hopping. This American-style India pale ale is a single hop varietal beer that gets it's flavor and aroma from selected Magnum hops.

I had this both on tap and off the hand pump. Cask version had a thick, lasting sandy head. Good floral and citrus hop character. Hops kind of fell out of the flavor leaving only a thin maltiness. On tap the hop aroma was less juicy and the appearance was more mundane, but the flavor was similar.

Sampled at the beer festival. Poured a nice amber color with a small white head. Aroma was hoppy. Flavor was good but it seems like this was a pale ale as opposed to an IPA. It just seemed like it needs just a touch more.

Pint on tap at the brewpub. This was the best of the night. Tasty and excellent IPA. Aroma was mild and hoppy. Golden amber pour with a small white head. Flavor was good with crisp hoppiness, and a good amount of pale malts and just enough sweetness. Some grapefruit and a light bitter finish. A very enjoyable and drinkable brew. ... 7-26-2006... pint on cask this time. Interesting to compare the regular and cask versions. Huge foamy head that lasts. Same nice aroma. Flavor is a little more alcoholic, and a little sharper bite. More complex flavor but I think I enjoy both versions equally.

Minimal hop aroma, but hop flavor and bitterness increase as the beer warms. Not what I would consider as a standard IPA, but I’m somewhat of a hophead.

Draft. Clear amber with medium white head. Good IPA aroma and flavor with medium sweet finish. Very drinkable brew.

A light amber in appearance with a white head. This beer had a clean toasted bread aroma with some caramel sweetness and little hops. The flavor was malty as well with sweet caramel flavor and a slight hop finish. There was decent bitterness, but the beer lacked the body I’d expect with an IPA. A pretty good IPA, but not something I’d get too excited about.

Clear amber body with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, orange. Taste is medium sweet, orange, grapefruit, some bitterness but not overly intense. Medium body with light resin.
