HumbertHumbert (77), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 28, 2006 From a growler on a beautiful June night in Colorado Springs. Great roasty aroma and a wonderful near-black in the glass. Porter-like in flavor and mouthfeel, but with enough grainy (not sweet) maltiness to earn the name bock. Subtle and well-balanced hops and a something I couldn’t quite pin down that must have been the rye. (I’m really bad at picking out rye flavor in beer). Very quaffable beer for something with such distinctive flavor. BeerandBlues2 (2514), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Feb 26, 2006 Draught. Pours black with ruby hints and a frothy tan head with lined lacing. Aroma is malt (chocolate, grain, meal) and rye, yeast (leather). Yeasty leather and dark roasted malt, no bitterness, acidity or sweetness. Dark bodied, thin and oily palate.
