Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 13, 2009 Handbottled. An unclear brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, caramel and a some oxidation. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, over ripe fruit, and alcohol. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jun 5, 2009 Bottle at Toncatchers. Thanks toWeeHeavy who brought it. Cehstnut brown pour with a small tan head. The aroma was fruity with apples and almonds. The taste was lifeless with mellow malts. The mouthfeel was thin and watery. The finish was short and forgettable. Overall: I was not blown away by this one. Lagunitasfan (432), San Diego, California, USA Jun 2, 2009 Toncatchers 2. 40th rating of this brew. Nose is subtle with spices. Color is dark red and crystal clear. Tiny lace and ring. Taste is initially lightly sharp morphing to an overall smooth sweetness. Raisins and yeast. Lingering mellow sweetness. padrefan98 (787), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Jun 2, 2009 Bottle shared at toncatchers "nothing sour, nothing hoppy" tasting. Toasty malts with some dark sweet fruits. A nice quad. WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 2, 2009 Bottle via trade with hopdog, thanks dude!! Shared at toncatcher’s tasting. Pours rosy red, a bit of copper and amber with a tan ring. Nose is sweet, malty and rich. Sweet, rich, tasty, with a really nice mouthfeel. DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA May 31, 2009 Deel dark mahagony but no head. Nose was uninspiring and almost wrong, like a high alcohol version of heineken. Seriously watery mouthfeel giving a ride to some soft malty flavors and a touch of saltiness behind it all. I get hot and stale malts for the most part, something I certainly don’t long for. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA May 2, 2009 I couldn’t believe that Jason had this sitting on the table at Flossmoor. I also was surprised that he and I were about the only ones who remembered how highly sought after this beer was at one time. Thanks a lot for sharing Jason! Brown body with a decent tan head. The nose is wet oak, raisins, and hints of sherry. The body is thick and sticky with low carbonation. The oxidation has certainly started to set in, but I think it is making this more complex and interesting. The flavors were rich sweet raisins, caramel, and hints of spices. Really intriguing brew. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland May 2, 2009 Rather old hand-labeled bottle shared by Ughsmash... @ flossmoor pre DLD ... Red copper ... sweet fruity juicy malts nose ... sweet with a little vanilla ... good berry fruits ... light tartness... plesant
