(KSq07, 750ml bottle) Small beige head atop hazy copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, prune/raisin, caramel, some vinous. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, raisin/prune, light alcohol, toffee. Medium-full body, low carbonation.

22oz bottle. Poured a dark and deep amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, yeast, and some caramel. Tastes of dark fruits, citrus, caramel, chocolate, roast, and yeast. Some alcohol in the finish but not 11.8%. I’ll have to see how aging affects this (I’m glad I have a bunch more in the cellar!).

Thanks to goldtwins for sharing this one. Deep amber beer, nose is lightly caramelly and sweet with some toffee and sweet nutty malts. A hint of plums. Flavour is lovely and sweet. Well balanced with a really nice malt bill. Softly toasty. The yeast is quite clean though and this is nothing like a quad, but as a barleywine it would be pretty solid.

Bottle with no label. Poured a clear golden chestnut color and a thin off-white head. The aroma seems a little peaty to me. Doughy, yeasty and purple grape notes. The flavor was malty with light esters and some yeasty notes. It hides the alcohol pretty well. Medium bodied.

750 bottle with no label on it. Cloudy orange/brown color with no head. Minimal carbonation. Aroma of maple and brown sugar. The flavor was the same with orange peel/chocolate notes. Sweet, rich, and chewy with some alcohol in the finish.

Shaun Hill’s last beer from the Shed on tap at BBD 08.25.07 Dark brown pour with a medium to large light tan head. Aroma was very nice with a ton of dark fruit, caramel, candi sugar and earthy yeast. Taste: tons of caramel, dark fruit-raisins, light notes of chocolate, with candi sugar, light fruity esters, and belgian yeast. Very full bodied, almost seemed like a belgian barleywine. Finished with lingering fruit and malts, with a nice sweetness and light notes of yeast across the tongue. Alcohol is moderate in the taste and in the finish. Definitely a sipper. I think this may be the best American made quad I’ve had, and another year or so would make this incredible.

Draft, BCTC 2007. Pours a clear, dark maroon-brown color; light tan head with patchy lacing. Dense dried fruits and maple syrup in the aroma; some raisins. Medium-to-full, chewy mouthfeel: plenty of dense dried fruits and candy sugar; chewy malt-forwardness with some bready notes mid-palate; some alcoholic warmth poking through. Lengthy, candy sugar and brown sugar finish.

[BCTC ’07] - dark purple-ish brown pour, with a light, fizzy lace - thick, highly alcoholic, boozy aroma, with notes of scotch, plums, figs - alcohol burns the tongue and throat throughout - heavy caramel and brown sugar, with candied dates, raisins and figs - light notes of smoke and whiskey - full-flavored, but way too boozy - this stuff needs at least a few years to loose some of that heat.
