on tap @brewery-pours a white head that bubbles and hazy amber color. Aroma is orange/pine hops. Taste is orange/pine hops. Mouth feel is a bit grainy. Medium body. OK carbonation. 3.6 *090507-Sheepscot Boothbay Bitter PA @Great Lost Bear Portland-on cask-pours an off white head that laces and hazy copper color. Aroma is citrus with some bitter/herbal hops. Taste is herbal hops bite, light/medium malt-light side of medium body. Right on style for a malty English Bitter. [Not sure about Special Bitter Pale Ale] Soft carbonation. 2.8

On cask at The Great Lost Bear in Portland, ME:
Floral hops scent the well-rounded caramel maltiness in this authentic and balanced Bitter. Nothing stands out really, but when the cask is in fine form, this can be a satisfying pint for a session.

(Draught) Sampled on tap at the Great Lost Bear in Portland, ME. Lasting, medium, foamy head with a hazy, non-carbonated copper body. Very hoppy with a nail polish and perfume nose. Very good bitterness in the palate and a extremely good balance with malt.

Served cask conditioned at the Great Lost Bear. Cloudy amber color with a thick bubbly white head. Mild aroma of caramel and hops. Flavor of strong and powerfully bitter hops with caramel, strong bitter finish. Medium body, creamy and smooth texture, soft carbonation.

En fût, cask. Pinte dégustée chez Great Lost Bear (Portland, ME). (Rating #1700)

CASK

4/21/2008: Sheepscot Boothbay Bitter had a hazy amber/burnt orange appearance. The frothy off-white head left thick lacing on the glass. The aroma is hoppy (leafy and somewhat grassy) which seemed to be Cascade hops. The flavor ha a light butter toffee bitterness followed by a soft and citrusy Cascade (?) hop bitterness. The body of the beer was medium and it was soft on the palate. This is a good beer from the cask!

Pint (draught) at The Great Lost Beer in Portland, Maine. Rating #13 for this beer...

(cask conditioned - Great Lost Bear) deep copper with nice off-white head. Faint hop and malt aromas. Nice hops flavor, well balanced with malt. Hints of fruit. Mouthfeel is low carbonation as expected from a cask ale. This beer alone made the trip to Maine worthwhile.

Draft @ Great Lost Bear in Portland - Poured a clear brown in color with almost no head and very little carbonation. Aroma was faint of hops and some underlying malty sweetness. Flavor was of floral hops and was slightly sweet. Nicely bitter through to the finish. Thick palate. Very good.
