Commercial Description:
What it's like: World Champion American Ale, 1998 World Beer Championships. Big Meadows is brewed as an American-style India Pale Ale using a classic American hop, Cascades. The result is a full-bodied, moderately bitter beer with a prominent hoppy flavor and aroma. The beer is named for the Big Meadows area of Shenandoah National Park. Who it's for: Big Meadows will appeal to anyone looking for a full-bodied beer with a lot of flavor but that is not too heavy or dark. This is our most popular beer. The alcohol content by volume is 6.2 percent.

Orange/copper amber. Small off-white head. Floral, faintly malt nose. Lightly caramel, graham cracker, sweet malts, light to medium bodied, finishing with pleasantly subtle hops. An appealing brew, nice alcohol, well balanced. No complaints from me.

Small offwhite head, short lived. Hazy copper color, with some floaties. Kinda citrusy, grassy nose. Medium body. Fruity, crisp hop flavor with some malt showing up in the finish.

Clear red in color. Faint malt aroma. Not hoppy enough for an APA. Very quick finish with slight hoppy bitterness.

A full bodied amber ale. It came in a 12 oz. bottle. Poured out a deep ruby color, with a tight white head. Aromas mostly of malts, with a spicy hops aroma as well. Tasted ok, nothing to write home about, however. A pretty fair local ale at best. Try some for yourself and decide.

Average microbrew. The best thing about this ale is that it looks great. Nice dark amber color sets you up for a fall. A little too sweet upfront. It wants to be a big boy in the ale world, but comes up short on all accounts. You start to taste a little of a decent malting before it gets watery. A sticky finish ends the experience.

Golden brown in colour, aley in smell....normal tasting. Barely hoppy, and not very pale! Very short aftertaste as well!
