| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2000 Draught: This beer has bulging muscles and a hairy chest. Full-bodied to say the least. Bitter aftertaste lingers on the roof of your mouth. Warm alcohol sensation in the throat. Some barleywine characteristics. As a friend of mine (Phil) described, ’it’s like a strong scottish ale.’ This beer carries with it a sweet, malty flavor, balanced with a hoppy bitterness. In a way, it’s kinda like Tupper’s Hop Pocket’s ’big brother.’ This beer really wakes you up, right before knocking you out.
Bottle: Not quite as appealing as the draught version, but still a worthy beer. Hopistotle420 (1178), Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2004 Orange/copper amber. Small off-white head. Floral, faintly malt nose. Lightly caramel, graham cracker, sweet malts, light to medium bodied, finishing with pleasantly subtle hops. An appealing brew, nice alcohol, well balanced. No complaints from me. jcwattsrugger (5532), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 17, 2007 12oz bottle-pours a foamy retaining light tan head and copper color. Aroma is perfumy/spicy-hops, medium malt-some caramel. Taste is perfumy/spicy hops with some bitterness, earthy/wood. Medium malt-some caramel, grain/hay. OK carbonation. 3.1 Don’t know/didn’t know if this was bottle conditioned, but the second half was hazy copper and the taste was better, adjusting this to 3.4

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 1, 2007 Bottle. Nice hop and spice aroma. Flavor is good, even for an "average" pale ale beer, what it may lack that it makes up for over other beers is that it tasted very fresh, which only added to the finish of the beer. Then again, I love most pale ales. BückDich (4854), McCall, Idaho, USA

Amber color, light head and lacing. Nose of light hop and malt, citrusy. The flavor is grassy, nice and floral, a bit held back, but decent. hershiser2 (914), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 31, 2004 Updated: Nov 12, 2005Appearance is medium brown- not quite that of a brown ale, but seems darker than most pale ales. There’s a medium hoppiness in the nose, and the flavor is quite hoppy and slightly citrusy. Feels nice in the mouth.
ADDITION: SAMPLED THIS AGAIN THIS EVENING under the name "Alexandria Ale." I’m beginning to think that there are two quite different beers, because the cottle I sampled this evening was awful... a LOT of melted plasticlike flavor and aroma. I had to pour it out. sloth (1678), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA

Kinda citrusy, grassy nose. Medium body. Fruity, crisp hop flavor with some malt showing up in the finish. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
