| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Growler shared by kmweaver pours bright and sharp honey yellow/orange with a white head. Clean, direct nose of semi-sharp pine-mineral hop cones, lacking any noticeable defects, leaving a fairly clean smell that is something I tend to like in IPA. Flavor is appropriately bitter and sharp, fresh and somewhat green - light bite of pine wood, some sweetened cracker-pils malt flavors, nicely drying and sharp and refreshing in the finish. Quite sweet, fruit more than hoppy, enticing. Simple and easy drinking, really good. Like the other two Dremos beers I had this night, it was undercarbonated by most American standards, but I rather liked it mildly flat, and it still had a well-built body despite all. Super hazy golden coloured body with a strong dense white head. Aroma of unfinished wort. Light-bodied; Strong hops in the taste with a complete unfinished taste-a bit off! Overall, not good but nice to try anyways. I sampled this on ’pseudo-draught’ at the Old Dominion Brew Festival 2004 on 27-June-2004 in Ashburn, Virginia. Rating for this sample: 6,4,6,2,11
Draught at Dr. Dremo:
Clear dark golden coloured body with orange highlights and a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of light hops-not too strong with some malt as well. Medium-bodied; Decently strong hop flavour-not bitter at all, but very clean & refined. Aftertaste shows little else-perhaps it was a bit old? Overall, a decent IPA-needs some work, but i’m somewhat impressed with this local! I sampled this pint on draught at Dr. Dremo’s in Clarendon (Arlington), Virginia on 05-August-2004. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 13, 2008 Growler, sampled at the 1st Annual Shenandoah Beer Throwdown, courtesy of Ryan. Thanks! Pours a hazy, golden-orange color; white head with mixed-bubbled lacing. Lots of earthy and citrus bitterness in the aroma; very dry, crackery bitterness; some candy sugar and earthy malts underneath. Highly carbonated; lots of citrus and earthy hoppiness upfront; mild astringency; drying, dense hop character; pretty solid IPA from Shenandoah; well-hopped, very earthy and dry; slightly hallow malt core. Lengthy finish: basic sugar, citrus and earthy bitterness; nicely dry end. scraff (1942), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 23, 2006 At Shenendoah Brewing - Clear sparkling gold, thin white creamy head. Earthy citric pine and floral nose with no underlying malt. Flavor was bitter, earth and light citrus throughout, and again not much malt to speak of. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Used to like this one in the Bardo Rodeo days, but now... radagast83 (1301), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2007 Draft at Dremos. Golden color, with thin white head. Nice floral and citrus aromas, with a nice fruit and hoppy flavor. A certainly respectable example of a IPA. Cobra (1061), In a van, down by the river, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 25, 2008 Draft at Dremo’s. Poured out a vivid straw yellow color, with a minimal white head. Aromas are all hops, with some fruity notes. Flavors are all hops, slight malts. Not balanced, but drinkable. Medium mouthfeel, slightly over carbonated. Decent enough beer overall.
