NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Bottled. An amber coloured beer with a ruby hue and a large lasting whitish head. The aroma is malty and Earthy with a hint of metal. The taste is very fruity and quite rich. Hints of dark toffee and soil. Better than expected.

Fad. Simpelthen ikke min kop te. Sur malt med en kvalmende humle lagt ind over. Bare ikke god.

Fruity nose. Nicely hopped. The body on this ESB is fruitier and although not complex is nevertheless interesting. Highly drinkable.

I love the colour of this beer - looks like a bottle of scotch. big distinctive aroma of hops (often wife complained about me drinkin this one because of the smell) strong malt and hop taste with the dry hop finish dominant. great beer.

Pours darker amber with forthy, short lived off white head. Aromas of hops and fruit, unfortunately with some skunkyness. Flavour of nuts hops and grains. Dry bitter finish. Medium carbonation and good body. Quite enjoyable.

Red-brown colour and the aroma brings some nuts, hops and fruit. Flavor is fruity and some malty feel. This one is to thin and watery. No character.

Bishop’s Finger is a dark amber beer with a large, creamy beige head, although this quickly disappears. Light and hoppy fruit aromas greet the nose. Upon tasting, one’s tongue receives a pleasant amount of dry malt with a medium lasting bitter hop finish. There’s nothing terribly elaborate about this bitter but it’s very drinkable.

50cl can from systembolaget. Pours a nice clear, sparkling brown with a small and fleeting white head. Aroma is mild, but has some faint tart, sour hops and some mellow malt. Body is a little thin and carbonation slightly bubbly. Flavor is very working class and straight forward: not very malty or sweet, not too bitter, but manages to hit you with a little malt and hop character by the finish. Balances nicely into a medium finish where some bitterness shows up. Nothing to get worked up about, but pretty drinkable.
