Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Overall, I found this to be a solidly above average beer. It has an appealing red tint with a foamy head, pleasant aroma and great taste. It has a smoky quality and slight bitterness with a strong yet balanced aftertaste that is reminiscent of quality barley malt.

’Kentish strong ale’. Clear, cherryish red body spiralling with spritzy bubbles. Fruit and a little vinegar in the nose, but flavour-wise an appetising balance of bitter hops (E.Kent Goldings) and a honeyish creaminess in the aftertaste.

Aroma: spicy hop and crystal malt Flavour: Bittter with lingering malt and piney hop flavour. Mineral character and candied orange peel as it warmed in the glass. Appearance: Reddish copper. Head disappears disapointingly quickly. Mouthfeel: Medium light bodied with assertive carbonation Overall: A very good best bitter with complex malt and ester profile. Sadly lacking in aroma. Otherwise an outstanding beer

Bottle, fairly standard brown colour with sweet and malty aroma, little bit bubbly but taste was very rich and fruity and malty, some bitterness and hops, and rather pleasant all things considered.

Disclaimer: I had this after drinking 5 rather poor beers I found at my local LCBO (all under 2 ratings) so my rating may be skewed. Dark rusty tan colour with a bubly head. Extremely pleasantly aromatic. Lots of berries and nuts mixed with rosted malts. A slightly sweet nose. Complex taste. Berry with some bitter and a bit of bite. Prue or raisin in there somehwere. Lots of malts. An odd husky smokey and slightly spicey aftertaste. Really good after the other Swill I had been drinking. Thanks to Pintbypint for leaving me this before he headed out West.
