Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks tomer. Deep golden to copper color with a white head. Aroma of earthy hops, pine notes, some fruitiness and bready malt. Bitter hoppy flavor with some sweet malt, caramel and fruits in the background. Medium-bodied. Not bad.

Thanks Tomer, clear bronze with a nice off-white head, aroma is fruity and flowery, marmalade and yeast can be sensed, flavor is dry with some honey, caramel, whiskey and a bitter finish, body medium to low. Nice one

Colour was a darkish amber and comes with a substantial foamy head, off-white in colour. Aroma is quite malty and also a bit of hop is evident. Taste is pleasing, and a bit "sharp".

many bottles from the LCBO. i actually had to go dig out my 2007 notebook after realizing i hadnt rated it and it was no longer availible at the LCBO. pours a light reddish brown with a white head. english malt nose, noble hopping. the flavour is of malt forward bitter. lightly fruity with backing hops. my major complaint was that it was imported in clear bottle which made buying this bitter a guessing game.

(Draught at Bishop’s Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, toasty nose with dark fruit, raisins, dark bread and slightly dusty hops. Malty, slightly toasty taste with notes of wort bread, raisins, dark fruit ans slightly earthy hops in the finish. Medium body, firm but smooth mouthfeel. Balanced sweetness. Lacking some of the character of the cask version, but still a nice beer.

500ml bottle. A clear red-brown beer with a medium tan head. Nose of fruits and mild floral hops. Juicy fruit malt palate with a mild hop bitterness to the finish. Definite orangey twang at the end. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel and average carbonation. Good.

Malty sweetness with a dry hop bitterness in this ale. I can’t get it where I live so I have to travel 140 kms to the nearest nest large town to but it at a large liquor chain. It is well worth the trip each and every time. Cheers
