Commercial Description:

NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

(Draught at The Rover) Clear dark brown color with a thick creamy tan head. A little bit fruity, but mostly malty, taste. Malty scent. I tried this for the first time in years to see if my opinion had changed. Bot no, I still don’t like it. Medium high mouth feel and medium bitterness.

Bottle, 500ml. A brown colour with a small head. Aromas of sweet malt. Taste is sweet, roasted malts with caramel and hops. A sweet, malty, fruity finish. Moderate bitterness. High carbonation. Nice enough, but not too easy to drink due to the high carbonation.

500ml bottle, 5.4% a/v Pours a great brown/ruby colour. The Head is small and brown. The smell is of booze mainly with some smells of malt and slighty fruityness. The taste is very hoppy with a nice fruity aftertaste. A bit hoppy for your average person, but i like hops so Im not complaining! Good beer for a crisp sip after work.

Bottle: Pours a mahogany (copper when held to the light) with a thin but relatively well lasting head. Initial aroma is sharp hop then toasty malt with a light coffee aroma. Flavour is nutty roast with some sour fruit bitterness. Quite nice.

Copper in colour with an off white head. Aroma has a decent whack of crystal malt and EK hops. Has some nice brown sugar and raisen flavours and a good balanced bitteness that carries through past the finish.

Bottle 0,5l. Golden brown colour. A pretty tanned lasting head. Burnt caramellish aroma. A rich flavour where burned malt dominates. Some fruity hints. A lasting aftertaste where the bitterness gradually shines through.

From bottle. Great aroma of a bitter malt ale. Red amber in appearance with a surprisingly good head for a southern ale. Flavour of hops and fruit in there I think. A slight metallic after-taste but gets better the more you drink. Overall a good standard beer.
