Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

500mL clear bottle from LCBO, thankfully not skunked. Pours to a dark amber with a large off-white head that fades in a few minutes, but leaves plenty of lace on the glass. Slightly floral aroma. Tastes of dry malt and a touch of fruitiness, well-balanced with the hops. Low carbonation, mouthfeel is rich but slightly flat. Overall, a good beer, but will be appreciated more if you don’t drink it every day.

Poured a dark and clear red body with a thick head. The aroma is earthy, with hints of oak, hops, roasted maltand cookies. The taste is roasted malts with a lot of hops, this is quite bitter, but it has a lot of hops aroma and oak. The aftertaste is a long lasting bitterness. Really enjoyable.

I used to get this brew in Rochester Hills, Michigan. I drank it all the time. That was back in the 90’s. Not sure if it’s still available out there. I remeber it had a solid malt base with a bitter finish. Well carbonated and ballanced. Beautiful deep amber. A great brew worthy of everyday consumption. I still wear my Bishop Fingers T-shirt to this day.

Bottled. Red amber colour with off-white/beigeish mediumsized head, lacing. Aroma is fruty bitter with hints of both caramel and honey. Flavour is strong hayish/grassy hoppy with some fruitish hints along. End and aftertaste is more hayish hoppy. Wellbalanced

Same thing, but a little more bitter after all, although a little flavorless, maybe it was just the aroma the one like that.
