Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

(0,75L bottle) Pours red amber, with stable beige head. The head laces quite a lot. The beer is plesantly bitter, especially in the aftertaste. Notes of flowers/perfume, bitter orange and fruits. Dry finish. Really good!

Draught (not cask, no yeast)
Copper brown, good creamy off-white head, some lace. Oaky hoppy, a bit honeyish aroma. Flowery, oaky hoppy bitter flavor. Medium-bodied. From fresh tap this is ok session beer.

Pours a clear brown with a tanned head. Nice lacings. Strong hoppy smell. Medium sweetness with some caaramel aromas. Lots of hoppy sourness. Medium bodied. Dry hoppy finish. Boring.

Euro lager aroma with some malt sweetness evident. Crystal clear reddish amber with an average-sized rootbeer float-like off-white head. Excellent, picture perfect lace. Has some good body and bite in the aftertaste. Somewhat like a red wine, mellows a bit a few minutes after pouring. Dougy qualities. Reminds me somewhat of a German helles. As an ESB, this is much dryer than Fullers ESB. Unique bottle shape for a beer; the wide body and thin, long neck cause a "glug, glug" sound as it is being poured. A gift from a buddy of mine who got it in Ontario (Toronto, I believe). I will agree with him that it has some considerable favorable qualities. Although I prefer my ESBs with a little more sweetness, Bishops Finger nearly is able to make me forget about that.

75 cl. bottle - Restrained citrus hop aroma - but not bad. Nice amber colour, ok head, but a clear bottle can not be good for the beer. Flavour is sweet malted with a bit of caramel- and roasted flavours and a lot of hop bitterness. Nice ale.

beautiful deep copper colour with an offwhite head that remains for the entire drink. Quite bitter at the start, then it retreats to a slighty fruity and hoppy. Very nice malt flavour. A great aftertaste is left behind. Best beer i have had in some time.
