Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Small, offwhite head; brown body. Nutty, earthy aroma, with sweetish malt notes. Powerfully nutty taste, quite bitter. Ends in dry, sharp aftertaste. Roasty, pine needle notes linger. Nice, although a bit one-dimensional, and perhaps a bit too agressive for the lack of complexity. (Bottle.)

Bottle 500 ml: Nun’s delight : Big, off-white, foamy long lasting head. Nice amber colour. Lovely hoppy, fruity and flowerish aroma. Malt, caramel, citrus and tasty hops in the flavour. Medium body. Long dry and sweet/bitter finish. A very enjoyable ale.

(Bottle 50 cl) Beaútiful, deep, reddish copper - clear and filtered - with a decent, off-white head. Appears very bitter at first, but things are levelled out by some very smooth and tasty caramel malt. 270201

Deep amber color, with a ig frothy tan-colored head, with floweer hops, earthy roasted malt, hint of caramel in the aroma, follows through on a medium-bodied palate with fruity, nutty, caramelized malt, with a strong hoppy character, even a green tea leaves note, leading towards a crisp dry bitterness finish.

Nice looking ESB with a moderate character. Good balance, pretty light, nothing wrong with it but I wouldn’t marry it.
