Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Not much of a head here, but it does have an eye-appealing reddish-brown body. It’s like smelling buttery toffee with vanilla, apples, nuts, and a bit of earthy hop bitterness. Smooth and easy to drink, it’s got a nutty, buttery toffee flavor, all juicy and fruity, with a mild hit of bitterness in the finish. I could envision me drinking a goodly bunch of these in a night.

Bouteille, LCBO, Mai 2005.

Deep orange amber, moderate head. Mild fruity hops, caramel. Pleasant palate of bitter hops, mild citrus, light caramel. I liked it a lot.

Brown color. Very small head. Aroma is quitye nice, kinda round and fresh. But the flavor is not really me. It has a nice bitterness but an unpleasant tang.

500ml clear bottl;e. Amber colour, full and fluffy cream head. Perfumy hops in the aroma, slightly nutty malt and caramel. Rich malt base, nice hopping - has a slightly sharp bite, lingering hops in the finish. Very fine carbonation.

This Ale pours a dark orange colour with a nice tan frothy head. Nice carbonation. Scents of sweet malts and a little ripe fruit. First sip was slightly bitter but with nice malt flavours. Bitterness shining through on the second sip too. Maybe a little heavy on the bitter hop side for me but nice just the same. A little roasted flavour in the middle and the palate is slightly floral.
