Powerful malty aroma with lots of fruit and a touch of hops. Flavor is fruity with orange and figs. Nice toffe sweetness well blended with a distinct fresh hoppiness. Perfectly balanced with a smooth and round full bodied mouthfeel. Bishops Finger is a ruby-red to nut-brown color with a foamy, off-white head. It has a rich malty smell with fruity overtones, but the hop aroma is somewhat more dominant. It has the aroma and appearance of a very traditional British ale.
To the ale drinker, the beauty of Bishops Finger is contained in its flavor. It is full-bodied with fruity overtones. There are nutty flavors and the taste edges toward chocolate malt, but is accompanied by a strong hop presence which adds a balancing bitterness. The finish is of smoked malt, which leads to a hoppy, slightly fruity aftertaste with a bittersweet finish.
Each time I am lucky enough to enjoy a Bishops Finger, it brings back memories of Quinn’s Pub, in the Camden neighborhood of London, where I spent many nights enjoying this fine ale with my friends. It’s unfortunate that Bishops Finger is not currently imported to the United States.

For a silly pasteurised UK beer this is nice.I like ESB way more than standard ’Bitter’.I could drink a lot of Bishops Finger.Has a spicy hop and dusty citrusy ,caramell vibe goin ’ on.A buttery flavour from said malts. Some good mild roast chocolate vibez.Nuts and peachy esters.Pretty nice. jimthree (9), Bedfordshire, England does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2009 bottle. A rich golden brown colour, poured with a nice creamy head. Slight, insubstantial aroma of hops. Full on and quite heavy palate but with a nice taste with fruit and hops. You can feel the strength here, a pleasing, warming beer. I will be drinking more of this. finol (516), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden
