Commercial Description:

NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Rich dark amber color with a nice creamy off-white head. Powerful malty aroma with lots of fruit and a touch of hops. Flavor is fruity with orange and figs. Nice toffe sweetness well blended with a distinct fresh hoppiness. Perfectly balanced with a smooth and round full bodied mouthfeel.

I had my first Bishops Finger as an exchange student living in London, where I became very fond of it. Bishops Finger is a ruby-red to nut-brown color with a foamy, off-white head. It has a rich malty smell with fruity overtones, but the hop aroma is somewhat more dominant. It has the aroma and appearance of a very traditional British ale. To the ale drinker, the beauty of Bishops Finger is contained in its flavor. It is full-bodied with fruity overtones. There are nutty flavors and the taste edges toward chocolate malt, but is accompanied by a strong hop presence which adds a balancing bitterness. The finish is of smoked malt, which leads to a hoppy, slightly fruity aftertaste with a bittersweet finish. Each time I am lucky enough to enjoy a Bishops Finger, it brings back memories of Quinn’s Pub, in the Camden neighborhood of London, where I spent many nights enjoying this fine ale with my friends. It’s unfortunate that Bishops Finger is not currently imported to the United States.

Pours a dark coppery amber color with a slightly malty aroma. Nice size off-white head. The flavour is sweetish malty with hints caramel . Medium bodied. Moderately bitter finish. Although I didn’t find this beer very complex it was a very enjoyable beer.

A beer name that brings nuff ’ innuendo to the beer tabel. For a silly pasteurised UK beer this is nice.I like ESB way more than standard ’Bitter’.I could drink a lot of Bishops Finger.Has a spicy hop and dusty citrusy ,caramell vibe goin ’ on.A buttery flavour from said malts. Some good mild roast chocolate vibez.Nuts and peachy esters.Pretty nice.

bottle. A rich golden brown colour, poured with a nice creamy head. Slight, insubstantial aroma of hops. Full on and quite heavy palate but with a nice taste with fruit and hops. You can feel the strength here, a pleasing, warming beer. I will be drinking more of this.
