| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 13, 2005 Pasteurized clear bottle. Light brown colour, small white head. Some caramel in aroma. Thin mouthfeel. Sort of a skunky ale taste, but not as bad as the clear bottle might have indicated. Still, this does not travel well at all - a very poor offering and from what I can see, a poor representation of a good beer. Until the cask sample..... Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 3, 2005 Bottle from Sainsburys. Pours a light brown/copperish colour with a coarse fluffy head. Aroma is boiled sweets, banana, apples and dusty malt. Flavour is sweet and tastes like its been boiled (which of course it has), packets of boiled sweets and sweet shops, with a touch of acidity on the back of the tongue. Better than other Sheps products but still not good! Aurelius (2654), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2005 Clear bottle, deep clear rusty orange. I concur with IPFreely - it did start out skunky (which I expected with the clear bottle) and then mellowed out to a yeasty ale aroma. Moderately tangy, fruity, nicely bittered, moderately sweet. Trailing bitter, medium light body, goes watery though. A mature and enjoyable brew. imdownthepub (5177), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Mar 11, 2005 Bottled, Platinum Edition, Pasteurised. Dark amber beer with no head. Hash, flat tinny beer, over carbonated. A very poor sample. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA

Aroma started out skunky but after letting it sit for a couple minutes and reswirled it I picked up some fruit notes, some tea and malt. Mild hops. Medium bodied. Pleasant. Aug, 2003: Bishops Finger is a decent ale. From first gulp to last swallow it always pleases and delights. It invites you to sit down and relax, and gently encourages you to take another pint. Not a session beer, but a pint to enjoy. [3.2]
Sept, 2004:A smooth and delicious ale - some fruit and chocolate notes. Mild hops. One of my favourite premium ales. [3.6] joergen (8635), Frederiksberg, Denmark
