Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Amber color and a low sticky head. Toast and caramel tastes with some toffee. Quick light bitter that lingers. Odd balance but with a medium body.

(Bottle) Quickly disapearing head with a strong sour skunkish aroma that doesn’t carry over into the taste. Caramel malt flavor thin body with bitterness hops only. They need to add a little aroma hops to make this even better.

The colour is dark copper-red. The liquid is clear and the small foam is quite firm. The smell of this ale is somewhat sour, full of caramel, diacetyl and hops The body is surprisingly light for the great bitterness. There are clear flavours of diacetyl and caramel, although it is quite low on the sweetness. The carbon acid is mild, soft and short, probably due to the nitro-tap. Overall, the taste is simple and straightforward. There is some bitterness and butterscotch but it does its job - no more, no less. Its aftertaste is quite simple at first, but grows into a large amount of bitterness.

Dark brown color, liveley carbonation, spare head. Malt bandaid nose. Roasted malt taste, kind of weak.

Good hoppy aroma, and a decent follow up in the taste. Carbonation is a little annoying, could use more hops in the flavor. Overall a good beer, didn’t see the great aromas everyone else talked of.

SOMEWHAT OF A PEAR AND FRUIT TASTE. THE AROMA WAS VERY STRONG (IN THIS CASE NOT A BAD THING) I GOT A CARAMEL TASTE TO IT TOO.

Strong and full of rich malt and hop flavours. I found this one very aromatic (especially compared with the shallow lagers I had tried previously). Woody, smoky, and molasses undertones.
