Brown and malty with a beery aroma encapsulating toffee and bread. Big malt flavours, but with fudge too and a quenching quality, especially in the dry crispy finish with lingers. Very well balanced and satisfying. shrubber85 (2984), Wallhalben, Germany

Hint to novice ale drinker (like I was) - DO NOT drink ales straight out of the fridge - they taste much better around 40-55degreesF. The Etruscan (307), Tuscany, Italy

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Got a bottle at the cafe in the Tower of London. Brown color with a thin beige head. Little lacing to be had. Very sweet aroma of malt, along with a hint of sourness. Medium body with an odd flavoring. It is mostly sweet caramel malt, with an underlying sour fruit and smoke character. The finish is on the thin side. Overall this beer is lacking in many areas but it is not terrible. I last tasted this in a wine bar in Bloomsbury whe I asked the barman for a real ale. A similar bottle cost me over four quid and I remember thinking it was too fruity. But I enjoyed this and will now have another. Cheers! AndersR (194), Århus, Denmark

Light aroma with only hints of fruit (rasin, nut). Rather dry with malty flavor. Hops and malts linger on. I would like to taste it on tap! jerkadilly74 (155), mooresville, Indiana, USA
