Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Golden brown in colour with a faint malty nose. The malts are not overpowering, and there is a nice bitterness which comes out in aftertaste. Good body.

Looks good in the bottle. When poured it looks similar only this time with a head, albeit a small and diminishing one. The aroma is faint and does not deliver on the hop promise. The taste is average with little hop presence and a reasonable but not exceptional malt note. The full body is clearly misssing, time to give the Bishop the finger.

Bottled from the LCBO. Very astringent flavour. Bitter to a fault. Weak head, uninteresting nose. May have gone bad... definitely open to a second taste on tap.

Serving beer in a clear bottle is a disgrace!!! OK creamy head, light amber clear body. Good hoppy aroma. Also a nice bitter hoppy taste with a good bitter aftertaste. Not the most interesting beer but alright. Probably better on draught!

A solemn toffee cream perfume attracts attention...An assertive lawnmower bitterness dominates, leaning towards chalkiness...Random gooseberries zoom by and pop up intermittently, vanishing like the rest into a faint aftertaste...

Reddish brown colour. Bit of hops in the aroma but not much else. Interesting flavour and feel to it. Tastes a lot like the Spitfire, with more malt and hops in the flavour. Average.

(5oo ml bottle) Pours a huge, rockym almond head and a copper body. Nose of tinny hops and caramel malt. Surprisingly full-flavoured front of a bitter that dies quicker than a frog on a roadway. Average.

Dark amber/auburn. Beige, rocky head. Aroma of butter, pepper, & slightly burnt caramelized sugar. Medium body. Earthy flavour of caramel, butterscotch, pepper, & moderate hops bitterness. Lightly sour & ever-so slightly skunked.
