Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys, TCR. Off-white head covering a deep copper-brown body for a long time. Moderate roasted malt in smell leads the way to a delicate plain malty taste added a spicy touch. Dusty, dry and well bodied. A perfect beer when you get a bit tired of the British blond ales (St Giles, 01.05.2008).

[500ml Bottle from Asda High Wycombe] Very fruity, balanced with a pleasant bitterness, exceptionally drinkable and more-ish. A great beer!

Bottle (500ml). Poured a deep amber with a off-white, dense frothy head which lasted well. Aroma was very malty/biscuity with caramel, earthy notes and some English hops. Flavor simple but well balanced with biscuity malts, smooth caramel, a moderate bitterness, very subtle fruitiness and a slight metallic finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, watery texture, creamy/dry mouthfeel and a good finish.
