Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in bottles and cans.
NOTE: Only ratings for the bottled vesrion should be entered here. The cask version has a separate listing.

Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours, Bishops Finger is a strong premium cask-conditioned ale brewed to a traditional Kentish recipe. What’s behind the name? Well, a Bishops Finger is an unusual finger-shaped signpost still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury. Only the finest malted barley, Kent hops and fresh water from our own artesian well are used in the production of one of Britain’s best-loved ales, which is also exported in bottles to more than 30 countries worldwide.

500ml bottle brought over by my friend Bjorn! Nose is very fruitywith some caramel sweetness; clear red with a big beige head; Flavor has hop bitterness, apples, and caramel malt! Finish is slightly bitter.

500ml bottle. Reddish copper coloured with no head. Big caramel and red fruit aroma. Full mouth feel with plenty of malt flavour and a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable.

0.5 l bottle. Amber color. Mild sweetish aroma with perfumed english hops, candy and almonds. Dryer biscuity and caramelly flavor with notes of fruity marmelade and salty minerals. Dry crisp finish. Fairly thin and bland.

This is another good tasing beer from Shepherd Neame ruined by a lack of carbonation.Pouring a good amber well slightly darker but a weak head and aroma of tropical floral and citric hops.Theflavour is a good bitter, let down by the lack of fizz in the beer and the finish is weak with the hops holding it up.

Tasted 6. des-07 Not much aroma but some caramel malt and mature fruits. Its dry on the palate and with a off flavor, might be because its an old bottle.

I drank this last Friday. It was quite okay - it felt like an ordinary english ale - nothing special, but still an okay beer.

[Sampled in 2004.] Nice brew used for browncakes. Dry, perfume and bitter. Mainstream but ok.
