Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
First brewed in 1958 to celebrate the lifting of malt rationing.
Ingredients: Winter pearl barley malt; East Kent Goldings hops.
The name refers to finger-shaped signposts still found in Kent, which once pointed pilgrims on their way to Canterbury.
"Full-bodied with complex fruit flavours."

On cask at The Wilton Arms, Knightsbridge. Oaked red body. No Fuzzy. Hoppy and spicy nose. Taste of malt and caramel. A bit watery. Okay.

A hazed amber ale with an extra thick onctuous light moka head. Light nutty malt aroma, non-descript. In mouth, a light malt with rather metallic hops. Thin bodied, unsatisfying. On tap at JD Wetherspoons, Heathrow, Mid November 2006.

Ålborg, DK @ The Wharf. Dark yellow to light amber color with a fine head. Quite pleasing hop aroma - not too strong, not too light. Light body and a good balance of malt and hop bitterness. A hint of sweet on the initial finish and then bitterness for the lasting finish.

Cask gravity @ Ølfestival Aarhus 2008 @ Charlies Bar.
Clear medium red brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lancing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, grass, pine. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - flat. (180508)

Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Lively pint, brown with good creamy head (without sparkler). Juicy malt with good resinous hop flavours. 20 years ago all of Sheps beers were as good as this. It’s nice to know they are still capable of producing a quality ale showcasing their local hops.
