The aroma of this beer does make me think Christmas in a totally unconventional sort of way: it smells like new plastic toys--opening a box of Lego® or what-have-you. Also some strawberry and mango esters, but lots of Lego®. Which isn’t really that bad--just weird. Flavor is more conventional; lively tropical fruit esters, bright clean malt that finishes with a little toast. Just a bit on the sweet side for my taste, but hey--it is a Christmas ale. Not bad. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Bottle. Small white but lasting head. Beautiful clear amber body. Sweet and floral aroma. Surprisingly shart flavor at first. Later the hoppy flaovr dissolves into a pleasant fruity and long lasting aftertaste. General impression: Sweet and fruity, not exactly my idea of a Christmas beer, not bad though. spporras (260), Finland
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 21, 2006 (Bottle) Fruity, malty, nutty and toffee aroma. Amber colour, clear and average size, white, more or less fully diminishing head with fair lacing. Nutty, fruity, malty and slightly bitter flavour. Lively carbonated, a bit watery and light to medium-bodied palate. 24/11/06 Grovlam (3825), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Bottle. Appearance was golden honey like with a clear slightly sparkling look to it. Head was average slightly fizzy white. Head longevity was mostly diminishing and left fair lacing. Aroma came out very floral as described. Also the citrus and orange comes nicely into play. Initial flavor was moderated sweet with light bitterness. Light to medium bodied with a syrupy like texture. Carbonation felt soft. Sweet finish. There are some Christmas feel to be found in this one. HarryFlashman (469), Chatham, Kent, England
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 18, 2006 I was looking forward to sampling this little baby for quite some time with mine friend and ratebeer colleague "Ruprecht". We saved our bottles for the lighting of ol’ Flashy’s Christmas tree and needn’t have bothered. Very disappointing for a Neame. Being a Christmas Ale, I was expecting a real rasping hotch potch of flavours - a cross between Bishop’s Finger and Christmas pudding in a bottle, if you like. There was nowhere near the taste I hoped for. A touch of toffee and citrus, but not a lot there. It reminded more of Neame’s poor 2006 organic Summer Ale, Whitstable Bay, rather than a flavoursome taste bud splitter like Finger. Must do better Neame, but Happy Christmas anyway! | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2006 [Bottle from ASDA] Toffeeish aroma with a bizarre aroma of pineapple sweets and some metal. Pretty carbonated and harsh on the palate, dry with some caramel and metallic notes. Not very festive. Bov (5495), Bienne, Switzerland
