Cask; Seasonal - February to May.
Early Bird Spring Hop Ale is brewed with the Early Bird single hop variety - hence the name! This light gold beer is full-bodied, distinctive and refreshing as a spring day, with a malty undertone.

Cask @ Aarhus, 2008.
Pours clear amber with a fine, bubbly, lightly off-white head. Aroma is mil, some caramel, light citric hoppiness. Low carbonation. Flavour is a bit perfume-like, pretty dry, some apple and a good dry aftertaste. But actually rather dull.

Copper with a good head and a sweet caramel scent. Bitter with some sweetness at the end. Malty with some hops and dry finish. I rather liked this one.

Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in the ’Spoons Real Ale Festival. Not long since I had this in a bottle and thought it was poor. This was much better. Copper with a small white head. Sweet malt aroma and taste with some bitterness. Ordinary but OK.

They say "an early bird catches le worm" and this Neame Spring ale does thus. It’s a light brown/amber in colour and, for me, tastes like it looks - light, citrusy refreshing and slightly creamy. Very refreshing - bring on the Spring says I!

Cask @ Bishop’s Arms, Malmö. Pours a clear amber color with a creamy white head. Malty fruity aroma with hints of hops. Sweet malty and fruity flavor with hoppy hints. Fruity malty finish with a hoppy bitter aftertaste.

Cask hand-pump at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Golden colour with a cream head; aroma of hops and malt; sweet malt flavours with some fruitiness; slightly bitter and acidic finish - it felt like it was taking the enamel off my teeth.
