Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - February to May.
Early Bird Spring Hop Ale is brewed with the Early Bird single hop variety - hence the name! This light gold beer is full-bodied, distinctive and refreshing as a spring day, with a malty undertone.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Spoons. Pretty awful. Not my thing at all. Nor are most beers from this brewery. Just doesn’t sit right for me.

(Cask/Real Ale at The Bishops Arms, Västra Hamngatan, Göteborg) Clear copper color, small tan head. Fruity, sweet and quite hoppy scent. Nice complex hoppiness, also fruity and sweet taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Aroma gives caramel malts with some floural hops. Taste is similar a bit toasty at times which i didnt expect, a very uninspiring basic ale.

(Cask at Rugby Tavern, Bloomsbury, london, 23 April 2008) Copper colour with brief, white head. Fruity, floral nose with orange, mandarin and grass. Fruity, fairly dry taste with orange, hints of toffee and butter. Fresh floral hops in the finish. Refreshing and nice.

Cask conditioned @ Humble Plum, Soton. Slightly malty with caramel and vanilla aromas, yeast and apple. I was suprised by the lack of hop presence in this - just making a slight appearance in the finish. Not interesting.

Cask at Sun Inn Faversham, Kent. One of Sheps better seasonal beers. Good lemon citrus hop nose and a refreshing citric flavour with flowery hops. Still the usual Sheps slight yeast taste, but still pretty good

Cask Conditioned at The William Cazton, Tenterden, Kent. Brown amber beer with soft bubbly head. Light fresh spring beer in cask, a little thin and green but easily drinkable and restrained. Light hop finish and a grainy malt underbelly.
