Malt is fat and juuicy, yet not greasy or clinging, nor too sweet. The hops are crisp, aromatic yet soft and teasing. This is one of the best Shep’s beers I’ve had. Fresh spring day aroma; new alfalfa breaking through rich earth, that warming sensation of being hit with sunshine after many months of being indoors. Light clean malt with subtle, earthy hop bitterness. Soft and balanced, rewarding by the sip but very quaffable. A very pretty beer, and a terrific surprise from Shep. The best use of Fuggles I’ve ever had, a hop I usually consider kind of an ugly step-sister to Goldings. imdownthepub (5186), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England

It’s surprising that Sheps have retained this beer just for JDW Festivals, much more could be made of it. There is a dusty hoppiness throughout, the same flavour you get from chewing a hop bud, perhaps a little overwhelming, but it is definitely Fuggles. A light crisp base to carry the flavour, which it does well. On the drier side, very enjoyable. DJMonarch (6941), Northwich, Cheshire, England
