Cask; Seasonal - June to August.
NOTE: Only ratings for the cask version should be entered here. The botled version has a separate listing.
Goldings Summer Hop Ale is a light flavored bitter made with Kentish malt and fresh Goldings hops. Taken from fields within 5 miles of the Shepherd Neame Brewery in Faversham, it is this particular growth of Goldings hop that give the beer its powerfully floral and scented aroma and biscuity taste.

Sept, 2002: <The Sun, Faversham. Very hoppy indeed. Quite dry with only a hint of marmalade fruit coming through. Aroma was very light. [3.0]

Cask Conditioned at Bicester Beer Festival, Gravity dispensed. Pale gold beer with slight head. A little undistinguished at this festival, casks kept in a marque!. Dry tea like hops, maybe some tangy lemon notes but a dull dry malty background. A decent beer trying to get out.

Cask at the Bishops Finger in London. Tea colored amber. Nose is mild hops and fruit with a hint of sweetened iced tea. Taste is more hops blended with a iced tea and mild malt flavor. Palate is medium with a light carbonation feel. Finish is bittersweet with light hops.

Reddish brown colour. Doesn’t live up to its name. Not hopier than other beers. Actually less hoppy than other products from this brewery. A middle of the road beer.

Cask, at the Cockney Pub. Amber colour. Fruit, flowers, citrus, a little boring.

Gravity at Olde Dolphin Inn Beer Festival, Derby. Very floral, almost prefumed, very very dry, not unpleasent but wouldn’t want two on the trot.

[Cask] Very flowery and hoppy. It has a slight sweetness as well. All in all an average English bitter.

Orange to amber colo. Light hop aroma, pretty fruity. Very fresh taste, good hop aroma in the front, bringing out a malt character in the middle, ending with a mix of caramel and bitterness. Summer ale, light but really enjoyable.
