Goldings Summer Hop Ale is a light flavored bitter made with Kentish malt and fresh Goldings hops. Taken from fields within 5 miles of the Shepherd Neame Brewery in Faversham, it is this particular growth of Goldings hop that give the beer its powerfully floral and scented aroma and biscuity taste.

Orange to amber colo. Light hop aroma, pretty fruity. Very fresh taste, good hop aroma in the front, bringing out a malt character in the middle, ending with a mix of caramel and bitterness. Summer ale, light but really enjoyable.

Shepheard Neame has an ale for all seasons and this is its Summer offering - Golding by name, Gold by nature! It has a golden colour and a golden taste to match. The taste is very hoppy, slightly sweet and very bitter - tastes stronger than it is. This has now been replaced as Neame’s Summer Ale by the inferior organic Whitstable Bay. "Bring back Goldings for Summer 2007 those boys from Faversham" pleads I!

(Cask at The Wharf, Aalborg) - Dark golden colour. very aromatic hoppy, buttery nose. An easy drinking seasonal from sheps, with a good balance between the soft flowery notes from the goldings hops, and a slight biscuity dry sweetness towards the end.

Sept, 2002: <The Sun, Faversham. Very hoppy indeed. Quite dry with only a hint of marmalade fruit coming through. Aroma was very light. [3.0]

[Cask at Charlie's Bar] The aroma is a very faint hoppy one. The color is a beutiful amber and it has a small head. The flavor is dominated by a fine sweetness combined with a little cask flatness (even though it was just put on). The flavor comes from a good malt blend. It ends on a flowery mild bitterness. A lightly hoppy "bitter".

Cask Conditioned at Bicester Beer Festival, Gravity dispensed. Pale gold beer with slight head. A little undistinguished at this festival, casks kept in a marque!. Dry tea like hops, maybe some tangy lemon notes but a dull dry malty background. A decent beer trying to get out.

Reddish brown colour. Doesn’t live up to its name. Not hopier than other beers. Actually less hoppy than other products from this brewery. A middle of the road beer.
