Commercial Description:
Brewed for the Sherwood forest Brewers http://www.sherwoodbrewers.com/ Maidens Blueberry Ale, clearly named after the beauty herself—Maid Marian. It is a golden fruit ale that has the flavor and aroma of juicy, ripe blueberries. A light blueberry ale that is not too sweet and has a dry finish!

Bottle . A slightly cloudy golden color pour with a small fizzy white head , medium carbonation . Aroma of light blueberrys and a bit of pale malt . Flavor is mostly the same as the aroma , a modewst berry taste with some biscuty malt , pretty strait forward , light body , slightly oily mouthfeel , slightly dry finish . I found nothing wrong with this and it was quite drinkable but not something I would buy again .

RnH: tap: Nose is great, loads of blueberry and grains. The taste is surpisingly genuine, not artificial as expected. Solid blueberry brew.

Single bottle buy from the Orland Park, IL, Binny’s: This pours a deep golden body filled with lively carbonation and capped by a short-lived fizzy white head. No lace. In all fairness to the brewers, blueberries are one of the very few fruits that I don’t care for, so, although the aroma is rife with fresh blueberry scents, that’s not a real good thing to me. It’s very light bodied with a spritzy mouthfeel. The flavor has bready malt covered by blueberry jam and a mild stemmy bitterness. The finish is surprizingly dry and not too fruity. Okay, but I’m glad I had only one bottle.

On tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a clear yellow with a medium sized white head. Piles of fresh blueberries. Creamy, grainy and faint blueberry cereal flavor. Dry grainy finish. Not terrible, not fantastic.

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Fruity aroma with some jammy blueberry notes. The flavor is not too sweet with fruity blueberry notes on top of a crackery pale malt base. Not bad.

12 oz bottle from Supreme Liquors, Cambridge MA, 2 November 2009. Clear gold colour. Some sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Thin white head. Modest blueberry aroma. Also distinct funky cheese and sweaty sock notes, which adds a bit of interest but probably wasn’t intended. Less fruit in the flavour. Touch of biscuity malt. Unlike some fruit beers, the fruit doesn’t seem too artificial but there isn’t really enough of it, or enough going on in general, to generate too much interest. Fairly dry, easy to drink and quite inconsequential.

Yellow pour with thin white head. Aroma of blueberries and malt. Taste is BLAH- light blueberries, medicinal, metallic. Glad I bought only one.
