Eyedrinkale (3102), Beer Town, New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 12 oz bottle. Sometimes you can just tell a beer is well made by how it pours and this is one of those beers. Burnt orange with a dense, off white head. Aroma is on the malty side and I guess I should have drank this a few weeks ago when I got it but it was stored in the fridge. Piney resin with pink grapefruit, smoked malts, tangerine and grass. A nice long and somehow dry finish. One of those tweener (IPA?IIPA) beers. highlandlad (1187), Sydney, Australia Jun 11, 2008 One of the highlights of the wild and wonderful Japanese beers that TimE contributed to an Australian RB gathering. This was a walloping great IIPA with a rasping, resinous finish that lingered magnificently. Cloudy orange with a lean head. Rich aroma of quince paste, mango syrup and passionfruit. Slick mouthfeel. Sledgehammer bitterness. Grapefruit and passionfruit again. Terrific stuff. (Bottle courtesy of TimE at Sully’s 2007 RB Xmas gathering. Thanks fellas.) kabutomushi (2), Japan does not count May 17, 2008 Nose-biscuity malt, dried fruit masking alcohol, slight grassy notes. Cloudy amber orange with creamy white head that lasted throughout. Nice lace on the glass. Sweet malt up front balanced with bitterness through the middle and finish. Full bodied sticky (chewy?) mouthfeel. An excellent DIPA. buzzoven (116), Japan May 4, 2008 Starting off my ratings with one of my favorites. Shiga Kogen’s excellent House IPA sizzles with a hazy red orange glow that matches the hue of the handsome label. There’s some pine hints in the nose and the balance is extraordinary. Finishes with a slight smokey feel and a subtle hint of citrus. Classy. omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Apr 21, 2008 Bottled. Pale amber, small head. Aroma of grapefruit and caramel. Sweet and very malty with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Perfumy and very hoppy with long grapefruity bitterness. This is not American?
