austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA Apr 7, 2008 Bottle from Tanakaya store in Tokyo. A respectable porter: plenty of malt body and some crisp, bitter hops with rich, lingering mouthfeel. Quite sweet for the style - lovely!!
djtoucan (26), Tokyo, Japan Jul 2, 2008 Taste very close to the Ebisu Black but higher quality and more of a fruity wine/chocolate/coffee after taste. One of the better Shiga Kogen beers out of the Pale and and IPA and I’m not a porter type person. Taste like it should be a strong 8% ABV but it’s not overly strong tasting to where it’s not enjoyable and only 5.5% ABV. Good very cold or warm. I hope to go snowboarding up in Nagano again next winter to drink some more and bring some more porters home! omhper (10140), Stockholm, Sweden May 26, 2008 Bottled. Dark brown, small beige head. Light coffeea roma. Dryish with light to medium body. Some licorice and coffee - though it feels more like the watery American kind of coffee. A bit light overall, but strict and correct. ante (2450), Stockholm (Bromma), Sweden May 10, 2008 Bottled, thanks goes to yhe omh-crew. Pours out in a cloudy dark brown colour with a creamy tan-coloured foam. deep aroma of roasted malts, molky chocolate, cocoa, mild smoke and molasses. Medium-bodied with creamy and well-intergrated flavours of nuts, cocoa-powder, coconut and milky chocolate. Sweet coffee, nuts and dark chocolate in the medium-bitter aftertaste. TimE (1007), Tokyo, Japan Mar 31, 2008 Light brown head with a very very dark brown body. Almost no light come from this porter. The nose has an interesting combination of citrusy hops, dark chocolate and coffee. Solid coffee, milk chocolate mouth, though a bit thin. Lasting roasted malty finishing that was a tad bitter and a tad dry. A little too carbonated for me.
