Some dark fruits in the nose, spicy, biscuit, some malts, some slight roast. Flavor is some sticky metallic mess, some fruit. Very mellow smooth body, too light, not drinkable. cbkschubert (1981), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 18, 2009 I liked this better before I found out it was a dopplebock, but still...Beer pours amber color with a smallish off white colored head that is minimilly retained. Aroma is caramel malty with some dust. Flavor is sweet with some caramel flavor and thats about it. Obviously doesn’t rank with any of the might dopplebocks, but is better than some of the other American dopples I have had. Onslow (176), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 16, 2009 Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Deep reddish amber color, thin off white head that immediately fizzles, leaving virtually no lacing as the glass is drained. Aroma of malt. Flavor of sugary sweet malt syrup. Virtually no hoppiness in the finish, just the cloying, lingering, sugary sweet malt extract flavor. I don’t mind a sweet beer but this is more like drinking diluted malt syrup. msante79 (830), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 16, 2009 12oz bottle from the Wine Rack. Pours clear brown with light tan head. Aroma is malts and spices. Flavor is watery with malt and spices. Rather bland for a 100th anniversary ale. Beerman6686 (1287), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 15, 2009 This poured a lighter brown, red color with a small off white head. Aroma was malty mainly and a bit roasted, Flavor was sweet and malty, a bit roasted tiny hints of fruit and caramel, and some metalic notes as well. Not very good. shanepardue (107), Raytown, Missouri, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 10, 2009 Sugary malt flavor bursts in the beginning, but fall short of a solid ale. Rotten aftertaste doesn’t help either. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2009 Single bottle purchased at Simone’s in Lakewood. Ah Shiner, my dad would be so proud I’m drinking one of them there Texas beers. This is a rather attractive beer, it has a nice amber-red/brown body, but the head goes away too quickly. Flavor is sugary and malty. Tastes kinda sloppily put together, but still tolerable. The kind of beer that would go so well with meatloaf.
