The aroma is that of hopps and a hint of carmel. Very smooth tasting with no aftertaste. bhops (334), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2009 Updated: Mar 5, 2009Pours a dark and clear mauve to chestnut brown color with a small, spongy, beige colored head. The foam is quickly fleeting, and hardly a spot of lace remains on the glass. Aromas include moderately toasted caramel malt, raisins, indiscernible dark fruits, and a surprising dose of earthy hops. While it’s nothing exciting, the nose is at least well balanced. Flavors, too, are nicely put together. The toasty sweetness of the caramel works well with mild cocoa and dark fruit, with hints of wintery spice and earthen hops providing ample, balancing bitterness. Traces of hazelnut lend a welcomed, nutty flavor that goes nicely with vanilla. Medium bodied and perhaps just a shape overly carbonated, the mouthfeel finishes lightly syrupy and warm, but not so much as to offend. Pretty decent and drinkable brew. unclemike (833), Ft. I used to love this brewery and I still make it a point to taste every beer of theirs that I can, but recently I feel they have really declined. Perhaps this beer is a step towards a rebirth. Nice malty flavors with a serious dose of caramel. good stuff for a six pack that cost less then $7 SSSteve (2092), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
