Nov 29, 2005 Light for the style with a thin creamy head. Sweet and nutty caramel malt aroma a hint of vanilla. Very malty flavor with a little raisen and tanginess. Well balanced bitter finish. Has some papery flavors. Not bad for Shiner.

Nov 28, 2005 Bottle... Clear, golden lager with a small, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The malty nose is full of butter and caramel. Well-balanced flavor is mostly bland with just a hint of caramel carrying over from the aroma. Medium-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Crisp, lightly bitter finish.

Nov 26, 2005 Not a bad beer by any stretch--maybe even better than Shiner Bock, which I kinda like in a weird way. I would describe this as a reasonably authentic take on teh style--very malty but perhaps w/o the munich malt presence I would normally expect and maybe a touch of corn (which I actually find pleasant). In the end, it’s just a very drinkable malty lager. Can’t go wrong.

Nov 22, 2005 Looks like a good Marzen with a big fluffy head. An aroma like roasting ears of corn. Flavor is ok, but very light and thin for the style.

Nov 17, 2005 In the bottle at the Crescent Moon. Pours a dark golden fest color with a bodacious white head. Head has much more staying power than your typical Shiner beer. Pretty lacing remains. Nice floral and malty aroma. Flavor is berry-like with a low hop content and more malty sweetness than anything this brewer has thrown together. Easily the best beer I’ve ever tried from Spoetzl.

This is much better the second time around. Lovely dry yeasty smell in the nose. Complex bitterness and cheesiness in the mouth. Well done. if I made this I would be satisfied.
This is very unimaginitive beer. Translucent copper. Pretty khaki head, Smells of urine. Tastes like liquid pennies at first...but there is some complexity to it. floral on the back end...interesting hop presence that is floral for the style...ehhh

Nov 13, 2005 Celebrating their 96th year in the business. Pours a clear gold with a nice white head. Aroma to me is a bit hard to place. Sweet bread? Almost cherry, but not quite. Flavor’s pretty light. Very light. As in "ok, where is it?" light. A touch sweet, hints of malt. Not bad, worth a try, but it won’t be a regular in my fridge.
