Subtle flavors in the initial taste which opened up to soft malt flavors with hints of vanilla and coffee. I think the light malt flavor really let the hops shine here. Excellent hop use in a schwarzbier. trayns (240), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Feb 12, 2009 Dark brown with ruby highlights. Off-white head is initially large but is mostly diminishing. Grainy nose, some moderate roast, a bit of brown sugar and a fruitiness akin to green grape. Mildly roasty flavor initially, turning ever so slightly more grainy throughout the flavor profile. Definite metallic notes towards tail end. Finish is light roast and some sour, wet hay. Rather full bodied with light-to-moderate carbonation. Rather one-dimensional, and not a particularly good example of a schwarzbier. badnloose (99), North Hollywood, California, USA
