Commercial Description:
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

12oz bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). Pours a murky dark brown to black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted and malty with notes of barnyard funk, chocolate, some notes of ripe dark fruit. Flavor is much of the same with a sour wet-dog, barnyard flavor that is hard to move beyond. Generally light to medium body with a sour malty finish. Didnt like this one from Shiner.

12 oz bottle. Poured a dark brown/black color with a two finger tan head. The aroma was a bit of roasted malt and some bitter chocolate. The flavor was nutty, with a chocolate finish.

Fairly light schwarzbier with a nice roasted flavor, some nuttiness and a little chocolate. Pretty easy drinking beer without a ton of flavor but enough to keep things interesting. Not bad.

I suppose this would be a great gimmick for lovers of Shiner Bock. Pours with a tan head, Not much aroma. What is there is just some old world lager oder. Tastes like any ordinary macro lager with maybe..just maybe a hint of roastiness. That little bit does count, as it sets it apart. Still very think and not enough flavor for my liking.

Very dark brown clear body with garnet highlights. Light roast and chocolate nose. Some vegetal nuttiness in the flavor, and a chocolate twinge. Medium thin body is a little watery with moderate carbonation. Nice surprise here. About the same as 1554.

Chocolate malts is what Shiner bock was missing. Pleasantly surprised with this one. Nice malty taste and medium body.

12 oz. Just shy of opaque with a small spit of a head that completely disappears in a few minutes. Aroma is scorched caramel, coffee and hints of dark chocolate. Initial flavor is grilled corn, scorched grain and apple. Nice finish of sweet-toasted grain, coffee and bitter chocolate. Light-medium body is watery, a little too airyl, but finishes with a nice roast-dryness.

This is a beer that I like to keep on supply in my fridge. It pours dark with an unaggressive head. The flavor is of toasted malt and it is medium bodied.
