Commercial Description:
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

Pours a dark brown with light brown head. Sweet caramel and malt aromas with hints of dark fruit and brown bread. Light medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. Sweet taste reminiscent of dark fruit and pumpernickle bread with delicate hop finish and lingering suggestions of bitter chocolate and coffee. Light interpretation of a schwarzbier, but nontheless enjoyable and appetizing, great session beer. Try with smoked sasauge or spicy, smoky barbeque.

12oz. Bottle. Typical of Shiner, 97 is a consistent and tasty everyday beer. It may be a little light for a Black Lager, but the dark roasted flavor in the beginning with a little sweet overtone make it acceptable for the price.

From bottle. Mild chocolate roasted grain, mild Twizzlers. A bit of metallic burnt character with neutral hops. Bit of carbonic gaseousness. Dark black clear with thin off-white head. Medium watery body with medium-heavy carbonation. Starts with chocolate roasted malt, some carbonic acidity and light Twizzlers. Mild fruity hops with nutty bitter finish and molasses tang. Nutty dry yet clean after.
