Commercial Description:
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

Big disappointment. Poured dark black. Sludgy tasting and moldy tasting. I hope I just got a bad six. Definitely will not finish what I bought. I really anticipated a decent regional beer. Too bad Shiner got this one wrong.

Bottled. Very dark pour with a nice head. Smells like caramel fudge, but flavor is light roast coffee. Nicely done but as it warms that aspect turns obnoxious.

On tap at Flying Saucer - Houston as Shiner Black on 07/27/08. Very dark brown with ruby highlights and a medium creamy light brown head. Chocolate and caramel malt aroma. Chocolate and roast flavor, very porter like. Mediuim full body with moderately low carbonation.

At Liars club. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing white head. Roasted and slight fruity aroma. Dry breadish and mild roasted base flavour. Smooth malty and slight roasted finish.

If you like black beer, this won’t disappoint. Not my favorite style and I probably won’t buy more once these six are gone, but I don’t regret giving them a shot. I will say, the packaging is quite nice...

NOT THE WORST BEER IN THE WORLD... ...but freakin close Like sucking on metal shavings. No depth, no savor, no enjoyment. I’d rather have Miller Lite, and that’s saying a lot.

Not bad, but not great, smooth and creamy and very drinkable. There is just not much substance to it. Has very light hints of chocolate and cocoa, perhaps some roasted coffee. Overall its very thin on the palate.

Very dark pour with a nice slow bubbling head. I got a nice surprise here. Rich flavor with just hints of coffee and a sweet almost bubblegum like taste. I didn’t know what to expect and after drinking the bottle I still know how to describe it. Need a second bottle. And gosh I hate it when that happens….
