Commercial Description:
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

It poured a very dark brown with a chunky brown head that dissipated quickly. Not much exciting as far as aroma is concerned, a little maltiness. The flavor is nice, but nothing over the top, some rich chocolatey, roasty notes. Not much to mouthfeel. It’s a good beer, but just wasn’t too crazy about it.

Dark brown/reddish pur with not much head. Chocolately aroma with some roasted notes. Thin body, light carbonation. Tastes good enough. Chocolate, roasted malts, spicy/herbal hops and some dark fruit towards the finish. Dry finish, quick. Some lingering bitterness. Pretty good.

Dark brown, roasted malts, yeasty, dark fruits, coffee, dry finish. A little thin for the color.

Pours Deep caramel with a tan head. Nose of malt, yeast and dried fruit. The flavor is similar to the nose, but a bit dry and smokey. Just O.K.

Bottled. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is malty with some smokey notes. Flavor is sweet bread malt with some smokiness in the background. Pretty solid all around. Not over powering yet still has good flavor to it.

Bottle. Pours Black, with a thick, tan head. Impressive caramel malt aroma, with some smokiness. Medium body and very sweet, almost molasses like in its sweetness. finishes long, with some lingering molasses.

Poured nice enough, head disappeared quickly. Very nice dark color. Went down easily enough, but not much to it. Would be good on a hot summer day. Not too shabby.

Das war ein so-lala swarzbier. Es schmeckt aus rauch und hops. Very smooth but just a bit on the watery side.
