Commercial Description:
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

The beer is what it is supposed to be. Overall dark and creamy on the pour, it starts smooth with subtle notes of chocolate. Started out as their yearly anniversary, now is year round as Bohemian Black Lager.

12 oz bottle that’s now 1 year old. Been in ice-box for a while so it’s not damaged. Poured black with no head. Nose of sugar, malts, smoke, no alcohol. Taste is sweet, chocolate, caramel, malts. Good full body session beer-one of the best Shiner brews.

Aroma was beery, malty, and slighty sour (not in a bad way). Flavor was malty and slightly sweet. Very nice appearance (dark cola color). Enjoyable :-)

Pours black with slight red hue’s. Aroma of light dark roast. Flavor is nice, some dark roast, chocolate, has a light sweetness...Mouthfeel is light with high carbonation.....I enjoy this.....

Meh, I tried this a while back and decided to try it again (thought maybe the new bottles meant it had improved lol). Anyway, It pours a completely opaque black color from the bottle. Initially large fizzy head which dissipated quickly with no lacing. Seems to be too carbonated. Probably wont buy this again.

Okay, maybe it is the nostalga I associate with Shiner, but this is a nice, solid effort. Not as smoky as I would like, but quite presentable. All black bottle pours motor oil black bubly. Maybe a bit too carbonated. Roasted malt is apparent, but does get in the way of the quaffability! Better than the bock!
