Jun 19, 2009 A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, as well as light notes of butter. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of malt, but also lighter notes of roasted malt and bread, leading to a dry, bitter, and lightly roasted finish. The body is thin.

Jun 17, 2009 Good stuff from Spoetzl Brewery. Very dark, but not too bitter. Enjoyable for slow sipping. Has a nice smell. Usually not to expensive, around $6.00-7.00 per six pack.

Jun 14, 2009 I think that Shiner must just use the same malt for every beer and add a specialty grain for different styles. Well lucky for them this is the one style that malt works for.

Jun 8, 2009 Pours, well, black. Beige head that doesn’t last for long. Sweet malt, some sorta burnt cocoa, some dirt. Some vanilla. Not very interesting. Thin palate.

Jun 8, 2009 Pours black with thin tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, choc, and coffee. Taste is similar with a little cinnamon on the finish. Give it a shot you will like it.
