Commercial Description:
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, as well as light notes of butter. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of malt, but also lighter notes of roasted malt and bread, leading to a dry, bitter, and lightly roasted finish. The body is thin.

Sampled on 8/3/06: Pours a transparent dark copper brown with a thin, wispy off-white head. Has a smoky toasty caramel malty aroma. Lightly smoky and sweet malty body dries out quickly toward a fizzier finish. A decent brew, fairly true to style.
