Commercial Description:
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Swarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

12oz bottle pours medium dark brown with a light tan head, settling out quickly. Smells downright terrible, with a wet cardboard, stale leather and mothball smell. Tastes is horribly overdone with this mothball/old coffee/leather deal, and the body is incredibly weak and watery. Tastes like chewing on styrofoam and old, damp, used coffee filters. Awful.

Light flavor with just the slightest hint of hops. Nice dark color with a thin light tan head. Better flavor than Shiner’s flagship brew, their Bock, but not a rich complex beer. Good for light session drinking. Not too bad for a mass produced brew.

Brown with a tan head. Light roasty aroma with cocoa. Nice dark roasted malt flavors with a touch of sweetness. Nicely bitter finish. Easy drinking brew here.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown that has a red hue to it when held to the light. Has a nice thin tan head that lasts. Taste is of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, coffee and is kind of sweet. Aroma matches the taste. Kind of thin, but overall it is still pretty good. Easy to drink and for the price it is a nice brew. I wouldn’t mind buying this again.

on tap at old chicago in omaha, and then in the bottle at the liquor store in wahoo. not my favorite product from shiner, but it smells great. a little too sweet and chocolatey, but not as bad as, say, a fat tire.

Pours dark brown and smells mainly of a lightly roasted chocolate malt. It has a sweet roast malt flavor with a hint of dark fruit. This beer has a too thin body and finishes lightly sweet. Not bad.
