greedycheater (77), Oklahoma, USA Feb 27, 2008 Light, malty nose of mild coffee and caramel. Virtually no head, diminishing during and immediately following the pour. The body appeared thick and black with very little light allowed to shine through. The taste is the best. A lightly acidic start with a malty/salty finish, almost like coffee. A noticeable body on the tongue that is oily and soft with a slightly metallic end that is not sticky on the lips. A very good beer overall, easily enjoyed with or without food.
mtaller (3), Dickinson, Texas, USA does not count Aug 19, 2008 Light flavor with just the slightest hint of hops. Nice dark color with a thin light tan head. Better flavor than Shiner’s flagship brew, their Bock, but not a rich complex beer. Good for light session drinking. Not too bad for a mass produced brew. AmEricanbrew (907), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 19, 2008 Brown with a tan head. Light roasty aroma with cocoa. Nice dark roasted malt flavors with a touch of sweetness. Nicely bitter finish. Easy drinking brew here. scooter_bub (163), Lander, Wyoming, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown that has a red hue to it when held to the light. Has a nice thin tan head that lasts. Taste is of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, coffee and is kind of sweet. Aroma matches the taste. Kind of thin, but overall it is still pretty good. Easy to drink and for the price it is a nice brew. I wouldn’t mind buying this again. kyclef (1), Wahoo, Nebraska, USA does not count Aug 17, 2008 on tap at old chicago in omaha, and then in the bottle at the liquor store in wahoo. not my favorite product from shiner, but it smells great. a little too sweet and chocolatey, but not as bad as, say, a fat tire. gringo332 (68), Texas, USA Aug 16, 2008
Pours dark brown and smells mainly of a lightly roasted chocolate malt. It has a sweet roast malt flavor with a hint of dark fruit. This beer has a too thin body and finishes lightly sweet. Not bad.
