FishManLA (149), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA Apr 14, 2008 Pours almost jet black and is a murky red-brown color when held to the light. Moderate to small head but lots of pretty lacing is left on the glass. Potent nose of molasses and burned coffee. Contradicting the power of the nose is a distinctly understated taste. Taste is of coffee and malts but very mild... Surprisingly so, considering the dark color and potent nose. Very brief finish of coffee and dark chocolate.
jodyperkins (61), Mississippi, USA Jul 21, 2008 Poured from bottle. Looks just like Coca-Cola but the head doesn’t last as long - after a minute it was totally gone with almost no carbonation visible. I couldn’t detect much of an aroma. It was sweet and tasted like weak burnt coffee. It was pleasant to the mouth but the burnt taste was just a tad too strong. Montag (3), , Texas, USA does not count Jul 21, 2008 One of the better beers Shiner has produced. Dark and strong. with a crisp aftertaste, though it does not do well warm and should be drank slightly chilled. BeerFanDan17 (331), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Weak and skunky. I expected better. Sampled at the St. Pete Florida Craft Beer Fest. PorterPounder (2758), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Austin, Tx. - Harlons - Airport - 12 oz bottle . Somewhat neutral aroma with a hint of licorice and coffee. Dark brown cola colored pour with no head. Flavor has some chicory notes. licorice, a bit of day old coffee. Not bad at all. Mouthfeel somewhat thin - but true to stlyle. Would drink again.
EithCubes (1756), Indiana, USA Jul 15, 2008 Why do I have the feeling these people think Bohemia is in Germany? Bottle. Sweet hard roast, slightly burnt with artificial sweetener. Cola pour with a noisy and soon fizzed-out soil brown head. Taste is sweet with lingering roast and nuttiness, a little toffee and Sweet ’n’ Low in the bg. Grainy and a bit coarse. Medium body more on the lightish side, some caramel and dirty sugar water. In Leipzig I would have called this an alcopop.
