Smell is very light and almost undectable. Tastes of strong malt character is balanced nicely by a firm hop background. Leaves a nice mouth feel. An easy drinking beer. Very refreshing when drinking in summertime.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 9, 2008 Not a bad effort. Clear, dark brown body topped by a small beige head that leaves some scattered lace. Muted aroma has some dark toasted bread and spicy hops. Taste adds a note of faint chocolate to the dark bread and spicy hop. Unremarkable, but probably the best offering of the Spoetzl line. unclemattie (2446), Georgia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 26, 2008 12oz twist-off bottle. Pours clear, amber color. White head. Toasted malt aroma. Lager yeast. Smells like it’s a balanced beer. Flavor is kinda sharp. Rich toasted malt. Big bitter finish. Not what you’d expect from an American Dark Lager. Overall, it is drinkable. Not mindblowing. specksnreds (55), USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 12, 2008 It’s pretty good. Heavy on the carbonation and more malt than bitter. Easy to drink, but not outstanding. Funknmilla (604), Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 8, 2008 12 oz bottle...golden body with a light beige head...smells nice...nice malts...drinks pretty light...reminds me of Miller’s 1855 Celebration Lager, almost to a tee...a light creaminess to the body, not very complex....nice, nice, and nice...a fresh yeasty thing with a pleasant malt finish...lots of carbonation, even a smidge of lacing...quite easy to drink...the carbonation is a big presence here, which makes it creamy, but makes it hard to pick out much in the flavor
